Camu Camu

Have you heard of the fruit with this unusual name? If not, come and get to know it now. It grows on a tropical shrub with the Latin name Myrciaria dubia, which thrives best in the floodplains of the Amazon, specifically in Brazil and Peru. The red-purple berries with yellow flesh are slightly smaller than a lemon, but when it comes to acidity, they are in no way inferior to it, on the contrary! Camu Camu contains a huge amount of vitamin C, which is also responsible for its extreme acidity. In addition, the fruit is quite bitter, so it's not something you'd just bite into for taste.

But it's precisely because of its high vitamin C content and other beneficial substances, such as potassium, calcium, B vitamins, amino acids (serine, valine, and leucine), fiber, protein, and flavonoids, which interact favorably with vitamin C, that the inhabitants of the Amazon didn't shy away from it. It's still traditionally consumed there in the form of a drink. You can use it even more simply, in the form of a concentrated extract, of which only a small amount is needed to cover the daily dose of vitamin C.

USE AND DOSAGE

To cover the daily need for vitamin C, 1 scoop (0.5 g) of extract with 25% vitamin C per day is enough. Mix the powder in a glass of water or other beverage. You can also add the powder to smoothies, yogurts or various porridges. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

SIDE EFFECTS

Camu Camu has no side effects in normal doses. If you exceed the recommended daily dose, you may experience digestive distress. It is better to consult a doctor about using the extract for children under 3 years of age or during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
