Reishi
Did you know that Reishi is popularly called the royal mushroom or even the mushroom of immortality? You can also find it under the less poetic Latin name Ganoderma lucidum and the Czech name lesklokorka lesklá. You can guess from the name that the surface of the mushroom is shiny and looks almost as if it has been painted with a layer of varnish.
Reishi is a wood-decaying mushroom that grows either on injured living trees or on dead trunks and stumps. It is most often found on deciduous trees with hardwood, such as oak, beech, walnut, plane or poplar. Although it is most widespread in Asia, you can also encounter it in the Czech Republic. Although it grows in the wild, it is no longer so common and is often grown artificially in commercial cultivation facilities, where an authentic environment is created for the mushroom so that it does not lose any of its contained substances.
What makes the glossy cork mushroom such an interesting mushroom? It is exceptional mainly because of the content of a number of beneficial substances, such as the essential amino acids lysine and leucine. It also contains a significant amount of terpenoids, steroids, phenols, nucleotides, glycoproteins and polysaccharides. Although its exact composition was not known in Asia several thousand years ago, it was still popular even then. You can find mentions of its use in books written before our era. The Western world only learned about the mushroom in the 18th century thanks to the British botanist William Curtis. The mushroom has been experiencing a real boom in recent years, when we are once again returning to the powerful nature. The mushroom is hard and has a rather bitter taste, so it is used in the form of supplements rather than in cooking. If you are bothered by the bitter taste, we recommend choosing capsules instead of powder.
USE AND DOSAGE
The recommended dosage is 500 mg 1 - 3 times a day. We recommend starting with a daily dose of 500 mg per day. Later, you can increase the dose to 1000 mg 1 - 3 times a day. Mix the dose in a sufficient amount of water and drink, or you can add it to a drink or food. However, do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
SIDE EFFECTS
At the beginning of use, you may experience minor digestive problems, which should subside over time. Consult a doctor before use for children under 3 years of age, in case of pregnancy or if you are breastfeeding. Also consult a doctor if you suffer from low blood pressure or have other health problems.
SUITABLE COMBINATIONS
Reishi extract can be combined with other supplements. It is suitable, for example, with the Cordyceps mushroom.
