Echinacea

The full Latin name is Echinacea purpurea, in Czech we would find it under the name Třapatka náchová. This perennial herb grows up to one meter tall, has a roughly hairy stem with lanceolate ovate leaves. It blooms with purple petals that hide the prickly flower itself. It is the flower that apparently gave Třapatka its Latin name. Echios means hedgehog in Latin. Echinacea is always harvested in autumn, but only after the plants have grown, they must be 3-4 years old. Its cultivation is not otherwise difficult. We can grow it in our garden. We can come across it in a park, but also in a meadow, or on the edge of a forest. Its tenacity supports the choice of sandy or clay substrate. The coneflower originates from North America. However, during colonization, it spread very quickly to the rest of the world.

ECHINACEA IN PREGNANCY

Many questions are directed towards the use of echinacea during pregnancy. Unfortunately, there are not enough relevant studies that would confirm its safety. Therefore, it is advisable to consult its use with our doctor. The same is true during the breastfeeding period.

HOW TO DO IT?

The form of the extract is a little stronger than the powder from the root itself. Therefore, the daily dose is considered to be 0.4g (1 measuring spoon 0.5g) 2 times a day. We should not exceed this limit.

PROPER WAYS TO USE THE SHAKER

The powder directly encourages mixing in water. 200-300 milliliters of water is more than enough for this. We can also add it to yogurt, smoothies, or similar dishes.
